Abram Plaut - AKA Ramen Beast - has crushed over 4000 bowls and is considered the most knowledgable “Gaijin” ramen expert in the world.
He has led me or steered me to 400 bowls which are some of the best of the best and this spot Ramen Tomita blew me away.
There are three basic formats for Ramen 🍜: 1. Classic with broth 2. Tsukemen where the noodles are served alongside the soup/broth and 3. Abura where the noodles are soupless. We are here for Tsukemen dipping noodles:
First the housemade noodles - they are so perfect that they look like combed, blonde hair and the texture in your mouth is pure silkiness
Next the dipping broth is of a thick sauce like texture which sticks to the dipping noodles prior to exploding in your mouth like a flavor bomb 💣
Next up this mesemerising platter of toppings with 4 kinds of pork:
And finally, it is served with an enormous Shu Mai on the side:
So - this is my pick (along with a legion of other ramen fans: Ramen Tomita - the small ramen shop thats packs an enormous flavor into each bowl of their legendary ramen.
Looks fantastic. Japan is on the top of my bucket list. I'll definitely head for this place when the time comes.
